Arras

Day 1 - Calais to Chalons - 200 miles

Travelling from the Eurotunnel terminal at Calais we will begin with a brief stretch on the motorway, but will soon utilise the "Routes Nationales". We will pause for lunch at Arras and potentially a detour to Thiepval. In the afternoon we will pass through the historic city of Laon & then Epernay in the heart of Grand Champagne. Our hotel for the evening is a lovely auberge in a small village which always scores well with our customers.

Our hotel for nights 2 & 3

Day 2 - Chalons to Chaumont - 154 miles

We begin day 2 by travelling to Verdun where we will visit a number of the WWI sites in the area before stopping in the town for lunch. After lunch, we will head south on pretty roads for a couple of hours to our hotel for the next two evenings. The lovely little family run hotel has its own spring and is built in an old watermill. It also has one of the best restaurants in the area and is regularly used by the French Porsche club. We hope to be able to get a local champagne producer into the hotel for an evenings champagne tasting in the lounge*.

* There is an additional cost for the Champagne tasting, usually 10 euros per person.

Porsches at the De Gaulle Monument

Day 3 - Circular tour of Petit Champagne - 82 miles

There are options today to simply relax at the hotel (there are some splendid walks along the canal) or alternatively, you can join us in taking advantage of the stunning roads in this area on a circular tour which will include a visit to the De Gaulle Memorial, lunch in Bar-sur-Aube and a visit to a champagne producer.

Orleans cathedral

Day 4 - Chalons to Orleans - 193 miles

Initially cutting south west along country roads, we then join the motorway for a couple of junctions and also to refuel. Leaving the motorway after Troyes we then rejoin the "Routes Departmentales" before stopping for lunch in the small town of Montargis with its pretty canals. After lunch we will drive the short distance to our hotel in the heart of Orleans. We would recommend a stroll along the banks of the river Loire into the heart of this historic town for your evening meal.

The chateau at Chambord

Day 5 - Orleans to Mulsanne - 110 miles

After breakfast we will take a 45 minute drive on minor roads following the river Loire to the spectacular Chateau at Chambord. We will visit the chateau and take lunch in the restaurants nearby before continuing on minor roads, initially west through the Loire region, before heading north to our hotel for the next three nights near Mulsanne.

Day 6 - Mulsanne to Le Mans & back - 10 miles

The proximity of your hotel to the Circuit de Sarthe will be appreciated today as you travel the short distance to take up your infield parking positions for the first of your two days of racing.

More "classic" action

Day 7 - Mulsanne to Le Mans & back - 10 miles

Your second day of Classic Le Mans as you head back to the circuit for the climax of the event.

Honfleur

Day 8 - Mulsanne to Honfleur - 150 miles

Leaving Mulsanne & Le Mans we travel north on the motorway before heading north west to Caen. From here it is a few miles to the Pegasus Bridge Museum which we will visit after taking lunch in the famous Pegasus Bridge cafe. We will follow the coast to our destination, the spectacular harbour town of Honfleur. Our hotel is a short walk from the centre where there are many bars and restaurants to spend the last night of this Tour.

Pont de Normandie

Day 9 – Honfleur to Calais - 183 miles

After breakfast we will cross the Pont de Normandie before rejoining the coast at Etretat where we will pause for a while. We will then follow the coast all the way to our lunch stop in a small town on the estuary of the river Somme. After lunch we will rejoin the autoroute north to Calais in time to catch our early afternoon Channel Tunnel crossing back to England.

We hope the memories and friendships from this Tour will stay with you for a lifetime and that you will rejoin us again for another European Driving Tour.

Bon Voyage!!
