What do I get on an EDT unescorted Tour?
When you book one of our Driving Tours we want you to have the perfect holiday. The principles which underpin our business (great driving roads, good hotels with safe parking, the safety of our customers, flexibility to enjoy your Driving Tour the way you want, and friendly, personal and professional customer service) are core to our business, but what will your package look like?
Once you have completed and sent your online booking form and paid your deposit your place on the Tour is secured.
You will receive exactly the same Tour pack as you would on an escorted Tour if you are taking an unescorted Tour whether it is "off the shelf" or bespoke. The main difference is of course that you will not have EDT Tour guides but the material you receive will be as described below.
Around 14 weeks before travel you will receive our "General Information Document" which lists things you will need to take that are specific to the countries you are visiting, along with information regarding foreign travel in general and driving in Europe in particular.
At around the same time you will also receive a request for the final balance of the price of your Tour.
Around 4 weeks prior to departure you will receive the "Points of Interest Document" from your Tourbook which gives information and weblinks to specific places of interest that you will be visiting on your Tour.
Two weeks later you will receive the "Hotels List Document" from your Tourbook which lists the hotels we will be using on the Tour.
For new customers, we try to meet prior to travel and do a face to face handover of the Tour pack but where this is not possible we will post the pack to you and arrange a phone call, Skype or Facetime to go through the detail.
For unescorted groups where there is more than one car, radios are provided.
Tourbooks
Sat Navs
Our routes are presented on Garmin 1490 Sat Navs which give us a unique ability to offer you very detailed routes which you can follow as part of the main Tour group or by yourself if you prefer to travel on your own and meet up with the group at the end of the day.
In addition to the Tour routes, the Sat Navs are also programmed with waymarkers for all of the significant places along the way. This gives you the flexibility to leave the planned route at any time and travel to a given point by the fastest route.
Radios
On unescorted Tours where there is more than one car we also provide high powered, licensed, Mitex radios for the use of the passenger in each car.
The radios are invaluable when keeping the group together in towns and cities but also provide a great way for the group to get to know each other whilst travelling.
Our customers often comment how much they miss the radios when they hand them back at the end of a Tour!!
